1. Hoop lightweight tear away stabilizer and run the first placement stitch onto the stabilizer (Do NOT skip this important step - you need to be sure your top fabric is covering the pocket with enough room to trim.)
2. Cover the placement area with vinyl (or reinforced fabric / felt) and then run the next step to secure the “pocket”.
3. Remove your hoop from your machine but do NOT unhoop your project. Trim along the TOP horizontal stitches evenly, leaving a thin border. (Do not trim anything else at this time.)
4. Return your hoop to your machine, stitch pocket design on pocket. (Advanced stitchers can skip the design and add a name or other image at this time.)
5. Add a piece of vinyl/fabric under your hoop so the good side is facing upwards touching the stabilizer (not downwards).
6. If the design has a double-edged accent border use the same color thread for the inner border as you did for the top of your pocket where it was secured for the best “appearance” and stitch that at this time.
7. Decide what color your final outline will be and run the second to the last step.
8. Add a piece of felt under your hoop under the vinyl. Do NOT change thread colors and then stitch the final step.
9. Remove your hoop from your machine, unhoop your project, tear away all visible stabilizer then trim all around your BuggaBand evenly.
10. Cut approximately 14 inches of 5/8 inch FOE (Fold Over Elastic). Using your preferred device (I use a chopstick) push one end of the FOE through one of the holes on the BuggaBand.
11. Overlap the two ends of your FOE by approximately 3/4 to 1” and either glue them together with a glue such as E-6000 or zigzag stitch the ends of the FOE with a sewing machine or hand sew, then slide that end into the BuggaBand. At that point you are either done or you can even put a little glue into each end of the BuggaBand to double-secure.
So simple and easy!
